Is wellness simply the absence of disease? Or is it much more than that?
Knowing how exercise contributes to wellness is one way it is part of every aspect of our life.
Wellness is everything interwoven in all parts of our life – mental, emotional, physical and spiritual.
It can be affected by our environment, what we eat and drink, whether someone smokes or drinks alcohol.

If you could choose one thing to do to be more healthy, what would it be?
For many people, that could be getting more exercise.
Regular exercise is often considered the way to turn the biological clock back, to maintain good health well into old age.

All it takes is 30 minutes a day five days a week.  It’s important to make this a habit as the ability to do regular aerobic activity decreases over time.  When adults stop exercising, the cardiovascular system becomes less efficient and people aren’t capable of performing at the same levels as they used to.
An older person will get winded and tire sooner when they are performing the activities they used to enjoy at a younger age.

But when you’re used to doing a certain type of exercise, you will be able to perform that well into old age as long as you keep at it.
It’s quite simple to realize that a regular exercise routine can keep the body ready for any physical activity you decide to do, as long as you maintain that level of fitness.

Sometimes it can be hard to get motivated to exercise.  Nir Eyal, the author of the book Indistractable, has said that he kept himself focused on exercised by making a pact with himself.
The pact, a financial disincentive, was to either burn a 100 dollar bill or exercise every day.
It’s not hard to see which one he chose.

If regular exercise is tough to do, it making a pact may be one way to get yourself doing it.  Exercising with friends is always a strong motivator.
If it’s hard to get motivated, herbs can help a person feel more energetic and more like exercising.
Drinking green tea and taking adaptogenic herbs like ginseng or maca can provide that energy boost that is often needed to get motivated to exercise.
Cleansing the body of toxins and eating healthy can also make a difference.
