Headaches are often a sign the body’s immune system is getting run down. It’s a reminder to slow down and deal with stress or a slow immune system. Sometimes our body gives us little reminders and messages that we need to nurture ourselves more.

These messages could include headaches, fatigue, nausea, digestive upset, dry mouth and bad breath. What are the messages your body gives you?

Perhaps it’s fatigue and you need to rest more. Perhaps it’s an ongoing persistent headache and you need to treat that.  An ongoing persistent headache accompanied by a general feeling of malaise is often the first sign of virus that could lead to a cold or flu.

This is one type of headache –  there are other causes for headaches so it’s important to address the simplest cause first to determine if the headache will go away.

Herbs and essential oils are great ways to deal with those symptoms so you don’t get sick. Essential oils are easy to apply and work quickly by penetrating the body to affect the nervous system and other organs.

Look for therapeutic essential oils to get the best effect. When you get those messages of and fatigue, it’s important to take action quickly.

Why?

Because ignoring those messages can lead to more indications that the body is getting run down. Before you know it, a full blown infection has taken hold in the form of a cold or flu. We have a lot to do in our busy lives, it can be hard to slow down.

Draw a warm bath and relax with essential oils.  Good ones to use are eucalyptus, lavender, orange and frankincense. Use only a few drops. With eucalyptus you will also benefit from inhaling the vapors. It is not recommended for massage

Inhaling essential oils or diffusing them into the air are two great ways to benefit from the oils to relieve headaches associated with a compromised immune system.
Use a combination of 5 drops of eucalyptus, peppermint, frankincense and lemon or orange in a bowl of how water. Inhale the vapors by tenting a towel over the steam.
These drops can also be put in a diffuser and placed in a bedroom for relief at night.

You can massage your temples with essential oils to relieve headaches. Peppermint essential oil is good for calming the mind and relieving headaches. Rosemary essential oil can stimulate the brain for clearer thought.

Getting a massage or having a partner provide a massage with essential oils is another great way to nurture the body to provide what it needs. After the bath or massage, enjoy some herbal tea to provide the nurturing your body needs.
